Unexpected things are the best part of any thriller suspense book. Which is something I really love in the book. I didn’t see that coming because I was so into the story and was not thinking anything other than reading further. One of the twists was very surprising to me.
The tension gave me was as if I’m watching a movie and everything is happening around me. But that didn’t reduce the intensity of the story. The kidnapper has revealed in between the book then it was mostly a cat and mouse game. As an update, the movie rights have been snapped up by 20th Century Fox, with scriptwriter Scott Frank (Logan, The Wolverine, Minority Report). The story was moving fast yet things unraveled slowly. As an author, Taylor Adams effortlessly unfolds the story, deftly moving the set pieces and using minor details (which you could easily miss) to advance the story further. They were untrustworthy for Darby and even for the reader it’s hard to choose whom to trust. She herself was going through so much but the way she handled it and was presented in the story was great.Īll the feelings she was going through, to fear, tension, violence, anxiety, horror, and gore was passed to the reader.Īll the characters felt real. I kept pushing this book for some time but when I started it I just couldn’t stop reading it. This was the first Taylor Adams book that I read and totally loved it. It’s extremely suspenseful and easy to read.
